But Hollywood, with its rebellious spirit, continued to dodge censorship with wit and talent.

Clara and Julia Kuperberg, founders of Wichita Films, are award-winning documentary filmmakers whose work explores American film history and culture. Their films have screened at Cannes, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, and major festivals worldwide, winning honors including Best Director at the Beverly Hills Film Festival and Best International Feature at AmDocs. With over 60 documentaries released globally on HBO Max, Amazon, Apple TV, Hulu, TCM, and more, they continue to chronicle cinema’s icons and its ties to politics and culture. Their film Martin Scorsese, the Music of my Life will be released by Kino Lorber in the Spring 2026.
